Personal Description:

Hi and thanks for visiting my profile!

My name is Thibaut (pronounced tee-bow) and I am an American-French Singer-Songwriter, Multi-Instrumentalist and Producer. I have written my own songs and performed them since 2010.

Alongside my personal musical practice, I have coordinated and performed in a few musical projects (Manila and Kneaded) and have worked as a session musician on recordings as well.

Alongside writing and performing music I have a deep interest in various creative practices which I find inspiring including photography, perfumery, poetry, and fine art. These other creative outlets feed off of my main musical craft and vice versa. My thorough and comprehensive interest in the creative sector manifests my passion for expression and represents my holistic approach to creative practices including teaching guitar.

Tutoring Experience:

I have tutored students of diverse ages and backgrounds over the last 2 years since completing my Masters in Popular Music from Goldsmiths University of London where I focused on Popular Music Composition and Live Music Performance.

Teaching on acoustic, electric, and classical guitar on a weekly and fortnightly basis, I have helped students learn some of their favorite songs, achieving new technical skills on guitar including basic theory and chords, to arpeggios and songwriting.

Tutoring Approach:

Everyone learns differently and my approach to teaching accommodates all learning styles, whether visual, auditory or kinesthetic and so my approach is flexible to different learning techniques.

Our first lesson is focused on working out what connects you to the guitar; what draws you to this instrument and what goals you might have for your own learning. This will also help me create a bespoke teaching method according to your own needs, goals, and personal learning approach. Establishing goals early on also means that we can break down these goals into manageable parts and set realistic due dates to monitor your progress.

After each 1 hour lesson, I supply you with clear, detailed notes for you to refer back to. I often include chord diagrams, links to learning resources, and outline key concepts. I make these notes available through an online drive and I am happy to email you a pdf if you would like to print them.
