Personal Description:
–––––––––––COVID-19 Update: Now Accepting New Students for Online Tuition––––––––––– Born in Hong Kong, I grew up in Switzerland before moving to the UK to attend Cambridge University and the Royal Academy of Music. During my studies I was awarded the Royalton Kisch Prize for Music, the Donald Wort Award for Performance, and the Leverhulme Award before graduating with distinction in 2014.
I'm a founding member of the Cardinal String Quartet, Principal Violin II with United Strings of Europe, and Deputy Principal Violin II with English National Ballet. I've been lucky enough to feature as a concerto soloist with Ensemble Eroica, Silk Street Sinfonia, and Cambridge University Symphony Orchestra, and have performed as section principal/sub-principal with Welsh National Opera, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Northern Sinfonia, and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.
Tutoring Experience:
I have 10 years of private teaching experience in Switzerland, Austria, and the UK, including one-on-one tuition, group sessions, chamber music coaching, orchestra sectionals, and full orchestra rehearsals. Since 2013 I've been the Principal Guest Leader & Strings Coach of the Hertfordshire Chamber Orchestra and have led educational workshops for schools in the UK, Switzerland and France.
Tutoring Approach:
My aim is always to cater to the specific needs of each individual pupil, and to help them achieve their personal goals in the wonderful world of music-making. Music is about communication with the audience, with your fellow musicians, and with yourself. Not only does it help with concentration, self-discipline, and creative thinking, it demonstrates that making art with friends is a wonderful way to learn, to work, and to be.
