Personal Description:

I am a professional cellist and experienced teacher offering private cello lessons to students of any age or ability. I teach in person (from home, part-time in the New Forest near Brockenhurst, and part-time in Winchester) or online.

I am an experienced solo, chamber and orchestral cellist, and have performed in various venues around the UK including, amongst others, St John’s Smith Square and Cadogan Hall in London, The Great Hall in Exeter and abroad including France, Austria, Spain and the Czech Republic.

I am bilingual in English and French.

I have an enhanced DBS check.

Tutoring Experience:

With many years of experience behind me, both in performance and teaching, I am a caring and invested teacher, passionate about passing on the knowledge I have gained. I teach both solo and ensemble work, running a cello ensemble for my students alongside their private lessons.

Experience includes working as principal cellist of the Exeter University Symphony Orchestra (EUSO) and Exeter University Chamber Orchestra (EUCO), the Per Piacere Chamber Orchestra, the Romsey Abbey Sinfonietta, and playing with the Southampton Concert Orchestra (SCO) as well as formerly being a member of the National School’s Symphony Orchestra (NSSO). I am currently a member of the Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra (YMSO) in London and I frequently guest in orchestras and ensembles around London and the South and South West of the UK, as well as building up my solo and concerto repertoire, giving solo performances and recitals around the UK. Recent winner of the Music at Beaulieu Senior Awards.

I have been under the tuition of Tim Lowe (‘Cello Prof. Guildhall School of Music and Drama) since 2016, while also graduating from the University of Exeter with a BA in Liberal Arts in 2017. I have had masterclasses with leading cellists including Louise Hopkins, Adrian Brendel, Rebecca Gilliver, Sue Lowe, Pierre Doumenge, Matt Lowe, and Phillippa Stevens.

Tutoring Approach:

A love of music and your cello is such an important part of the learning process - I aim to help you, or your child, enjoy and look forward to reaching each benchmark necessary to progress. I also focus on establishing a core understanding and a solid technique in order to help you to reach your full potential and feel confident in your playing.

I am happy to prepare students for exams although I am also happy to take on students who simply wish to learn the cello as a hobby for their own personal fulfilment. I tailor my lessons to each student, according to their individual needs and goals with the aim that each student goes away excited and inspired by what they are doing.
