Personal Description:

I am an opera singer and teacher from the north east of England new to the mid sussex area. I graduated in 2014 from King's College London with first class honours BMus, and currently study part time for my Masters in vocal performance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire. As well as spending my days singing and studying classical music, I love musical theatre, Jazz, and Pop. When I'm away from college I love to dance, read, cook and go for the occasional swim in the sea (I'm from the north, so Brighton beach feels positively tropical!)

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching music on and off since I was a teenager. I have musically directed groups of children, taught general music in German Kindergartens during my time abroad, and been a private teacher.
I am also a CELTA qualified ESL (English as a second language) teacher, with 3 years experience teaching English in groups and as a private tutor. I am patient, enthusiastic and experienced, and can employ pedagogically sound methods.

Tutoring Approach:

First and foremost I love to share my enthusiasm for music with my students. My hope as a teacher is that I can inspire a life long love of music in my students, as well helping them to fulfil their potential.

Helping my students to build a strong and healthy vocal technique is of course core to my teaching. I will focus on the breath and a gentle but strongly reliable engagement with the body so that students can feel confident and free to express themselves in their singing, and continue to build on their abilities.

Focusing on the emotion and drama of music is also very important to me as a teacher, and I encourage students to play and explore so that they can fully benefit from all that singing has to offer.

Whether students want to climb the ABRSM grades, prepare for a performance, or sing just for the joy of it, I am happy to work towards whatever goal a student brings.
