Personal Description:

I have extensive experience both performing and teaching and my musical travels have taken me to many places in my home country (South Africa) as well as Germany, Israel, the UK and Spain. I love the piano and will be forever enamoured of its incredible sound. I love food, art, reading and people. I am generally friendly, kind, astute and approachable, and I want to make the experience of learning to play the piano as great a joy in my students' lives as it has been, and continues to be, in mine. I am now offering SKYPE/Video Call lessons exclusively because of the amazing convenience both for me and my students. I offer Music Theory and Piano for all levels - and in fact if you take Piano with me, you will get Music Theory included (I always teach theory to piano students).

Tutoring Experience:

I have more than 17 years' teaching experience. The vast majority of this is in one-to-one piano teaching, but I've also taught music theory, music technology and English to individuals and groups with great success. I've mostly taught privately, but also have significant experience in schools and academies. At present, I teach priva**Contact Detail Removed**ssons exclusively.

I've presented many students for ABRSM music exams

Tutoring Approach:

I really love teaching - that is, I love helping others achieve their goals, discover new possibilities and learn new things about music and about themselves. Above all, I love music, and I convey this to my students through my enthusiasm during lessons. I believe that we all have great potential within us, and I regard it as my privilege to assist others in the discovery and development of the potential within them. I believe that each individual is unique and precious and is therefore to be treated as such - not made to learn subject to a specific method or approach, but engaged with compassion and understanding and a sincere pursuit of excellence. I seek to learn from my students as much as to teach.

Furthermore, I try not only to teach piano, I try to teach music - or, more specifically, I try to teach others how to discover for themselves how they best relate to music, what their best expression in music might be, or how deeply they can relate to music. In a nutshell, what I really want is for my students to move towards freedom of expression of their most authentic selves.
