Personal Description:

*Online students accepted!*
I am a cellist who graduated from study at the Royal Northern College of Music in 2017. I graduated with a BMus hons first class honours degree. My study was kindly supported by The Thomas Edward Wilson Award, RNCM Scholarship, the Rollo-Davison trust and the Jellis Bequest.
Originally hailing from Australia, I completed my Higher School Certificate at the Sydney Conservatorium High School. There I studied under Georg Pedersen, Susan Blake and then Julian Smiles of the Goldner String Quartet.
I was a member of the Australian Youth Orchestra and the Sydney Symphony Sinfonia.

At the RNCM, I studied with Hannah Roberts.
I am currently a freelance Cellist and Cello Teacher, I’ve had a trial with the CBSO, and am an extra with the CBSO, RLPO and BBC Philharmonic. I have performed under many renowned conductors in some of the best halls in Europe.

Tutoring Experience:

I have experience teaching beginners up to advanced students. I currently teach at the St James School for Boys in Ashford, and at The Upton House School in Windsor, and have a large group of private students. I also have experience in teaching children with learning differences, and held a position teaching previously at The Moat School in Fulham.
I teach students of all ages and abilities.
I also have a valid, up to date DBS check.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a very adaptable teacher. I am great with children, and promise to emphasise a love of the cello!
Many teachers tend to just tell their student what to do, and don’t fully explain why they want the student to do it, or exactly how to execute it. My approach is very detailed, and I always try to make sure my students have deep understanding of what they’re doing. My desire is to teach pupils to teach themselves, ie learn how to critically analyse why things aren’t sounding the way they want them to, and how to improve effectively at home (instead of practicing big chunks of pieces over and over).
That said, I’m also intuitive and know how to mix things up to keep it fresh.
I credit my successful teaching method to the incredible tuition I have received from many amazing cello tutors.
Get in touch! I really adore teaching and you will see that when you meet me :)
