Personal Description:
I have a PhD in music and have graduated from Guildhall School of Music and Drama with a 1:1. I studied with the world's leading musicians including David Corkhill, Michael Skinner, Simon Limbrick, Richard Benjafield, Adrian Spillet and Julian Philips.
I have performed in world's prestigious venues such as Barbican Hall, Royal Albert Hall and Sumida Hall (Tokyo).
I have also composed for some of world's finenest artists including Hiromi Harashima (2nd prize winner of Internaltiona Marimba competition - duo division), Dolcinea Quartet, Hibiki Ichikawa and many more.
I am also currently researching aesthetics of world compositions at SOAS.
Tutoring Experience:
I have given workshops at one of the most reknown schools in Brighton and charity groups. I have also given individual lessons to beginners to advanced musicians in London and south England. I have taught people from a wide range of backgrounds and age groups.
Tutoring Approach:
I always consult with clients for their needs and carefully plan lessons. If they are working towards grades, then I will make sure that they will achieve their aims most efficiently so that they can progress their learning successfully and we can ensure that the lessons will be cost effective.
If a client wishes to learn instruments/learn theory/composition for fun, I will also plan carefully for his/her need so that the client can make the most of the lessons. I will be logging each lesson and monitor progress so that the client can see how he/she has improved over the course of sessions.
I normally teach in a studio closest to where the client lives or teach at his/her place. Also depending on the nature of lessons (e.g… composition, theory, small percussion instruments), the client may choose to come around to my practice base.
Since I understand each client has a different need, I am happy to negotiate the fee.
I do not generally charge for travel expenses (unless it costs £10 or over on public transport).
