Personal Description:

Steve , B.A. M.Mus, is a pianist and composer in a wide range of styles from classical to jazz.
His exciting and melodic new piano concerto was recorded by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra by pianist Joseph Havlat conducted by David Watkin and released April 28th 2923 on the Navona label.
He is a published arranger of Dudley Moore's music by Faber. His arrangements for musicians such as Jack Gibbons (Fats Waller) Rena Fruchter, Brian Dallow and the late BBC Broadcaster Geoffrey Stern have been performed in the UK and America.
In 2012/13 he performed unique 10th anniversary concerts recreations of Dudley's music and jazz piano. He has performed most recently in London at St James Piccadilly, St. Johns Harrow, for 'Classical Partners', Hammersmith and Fulham Arts Festival, St Georges Bloomsbury, Harrow Summer Music and Royal National Hotel.
In 2014 he co-founded Harrow Summer Music - an annual classical concert series - with pianist Neil Crossland. In 2017 Steve's Violin Concerto was premiered in Scotland by violinist Mark Wilson. In 2018 3 songs written to poems written by his wife Lorna were premiered by Ferrier Award winning baritone Gareth Brynmor John in Harrow.
Musicweb International described his first CD of piano music as ‘kaleidoscopically varied works……engagement with melody, impressionistic atmosphere, jazzy syncopation….slowly burning passion’.

Tutoring Experience:

I've taught piano privately for over 20 years and keyboard classes for a company around schools in London from 2003-2011.
I teach from beginners to Teaching Diploma, ABRSM and Trinity Board. I also teach music theory. I have tutored GCSE music to A grade.

Tutoring Approach:

Unlike most piano teachers I use easy and fun ways to explain to children. I get most pupils playing their favourite tunes in a short time alongside a structured course reading music in both hands. I hold pupils’ concerts to encourage pupils to perform and gain confidence in sharing their music.
I’ve coached many pupils to success at ABRSM and Trinity exams up to Grade 8 and teaching diploma, Electronic Keyboard, music theory and GSCE. Whether you want to learn for fun or take exams, I teach all standards and styles and from classical to pop and jazz.
If you have an artistic child and would like to arrange a FREE BEGINNER’S TRIAL LESSON drop me a line… From 19th March 2020 I have been Skyping / Facetiming lessons to pupils over the internet due to the government advice on Coronavirus. I'm a particularly skilled at arranging / transcribing favourite songs for pupils, which is a great addition to our studies. We can make this a creative period for our music making!
