Personal Description:

Steve , B.A. M.Mus, is a pianist and composer in a wide range of styles from classical to jazz. He is a published arranger of Dudley Moore's music by Faber. His piano and orchestral arrangements for musicians such as Jack Gibbons, Rena Fruchter and the late BBC Broadcaster Geoffrey Stern have been performed in the UK and America.
In 2012/13 he performed unique 10th anniversary concerts of note for note recreations of Dudley's music and jazz piano. He has performed most recently in London at St James Piccadilly, St. Johns Harrow, for 'Classical Partners', Hammersmith and Fulham Arts Festival, St Georges Bloomsbury, Harrow Summer Music and Royal National Hotel.
In 2014 he co-founded 'Harrow Summer Music' - an annual classical concert series - with pianist Neil Crossland. In 2017 Steve's Violin Concerto was premiered in Scotland by violinist Mark Wilson.
Musicweb International described his first CD of piano music as ‘kaleidoscopically varied works……engagement with melody, impressionistic atmosphere, jazzy syncopation….slowly burning passion’.

Tutoring Experience:

I've taught piano privately for over 20 years and keyboard classes for a Music School in schools in London from 2003-2011.
I teach from beginners to Teaching Diploma, ABRSM and Trinity Board. I also teach music theory. I have tutored GCSE music to A grade.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer friendly and unpretentious tuition.I present pupils concerts which give a valuable opportunity for children to gain confidence performing and sharing their music.
For a strong foundation I teach beginners John Thompson’s Easiest Piano Course. This will develop technique, note reading in both hands and a basic understanding of keyboard harmony. This will benefit pupils of both piano and electronic keyboard. I encourage all styles of playing – classical, jazz or pop – and coach pupils taking exams at Associated Board or Trinity Board.
Beginners are taught in a fun and easy to understand way. I’m happy to find any special requests. I have a large collection of music available and I can quickly transcribe music or songs for you at my 1/2 hourly rate. If you have your heart set on playing a particular piece of music then play it! Be inspired by it!
