Personal Description:
I am a professional working musician and have been gigging for well over a decade, as a soloist and as part of many ensembles including big bands, concert bands and show orchestras, covering different genre's (classical, jazz, soul and pop). This enables me to give a different kind of teaching experience to a learner as I have real-life working experience as a musician so can look at things like stage presence and performance skills as well as technical ability.
Nothing excites me the way that music does, no matter what I'm doing: teaching, performing to listening to music, and I always try to put this energy into my teaching.
Tutoring Experience:
As well as teaching privately for over 10 years, I have also taught and presented showcases in schools on occasion.
Tutoring Approach:
Whether you are a total beginner, an advancing player looking to take their playing to the next level or are returning to your instrument after some years, I can help you.
When I teach I want to ensure my students are happy, and that they are working towards their own goals and objectives, whether they want to progress technically and work through their grades, or maybe they just want to be able to play songs they love on their instrument, I will set out a curriculum that achieves their goals. I can also help with preparing for things like GCSE Music performance grading.
Patience is something that I instil in my teaching approach with every one of my students. You mustn't feel under pressure when attempting something so that you can approach it with a clear mind. This way, you'll achieve at a greater speed.
