Personal Description:
I like to think that I am approachable and always willing to accommodate others. I enjoy making music and encourage others to do the same.
Tutoring Experience:
I have had more than twenty years music teaching experience. As well as performing, I have had the pleasure of teaching students in line with the ABRSM standards and have had 100% pass rate in students passing their ABRSM exams. This has proved to be a rewarding experience as I have seen these students progress into advanced level.
Tutoring Approach:
I like to make my sessions fun, relaxing and engaging where possible. I do this by introducing popular pieces for advanced students and in the case of beginners, I use simple pieces of music to teach the fundaments and rudiments of music.
I start with giving a background to the instrument that a student will learn, then I check their level of music ability. My lessons also include sight reading, learning of new notes and an element of theory.
Once a student has reached a level to take a test (where he or she wants to take a test), I recommend them for it and prepare them so that they are ready to take the test by the specified time.
I can teach groups or on a one to one basis, depending on the instrument. I can teach groups and individual recorder players and also singers, but for piano I tend to do this on a one to one basis. I also teach online.
Most of all, I tailor my lessons so that they meet the needs of the individual students.
