Hello! I'm Simone and I'm a professional drummer with over 14 years of experience.
The beginning of my music career dates back to when I played in my first live show when I was 9 years old (in 2005); on this occasion, I had the pleasure to play percussions with my father’s band.
I played with my father’s band between 2005 and 2009. From 2009 to 2016 I co-worked with various bands all around Sardinia, in Italy. I had the opportunity to play with a lot of different musicians, who have contributed to my personal development as a musician. From 2014 I played with some important bands in my area such as “The Overdrive”, an Italian rock band founded in 2006, as well as with “Hollywood Band”.
In 2016 I decided to devote myself to the study of music in a professional way and made a new significant step: I enrolled in the BMUS Popular Music Performance course at the music university “The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance” (ICMP) in London. I have been coached by eminent professors such as Gabor Dornyei, Richard Spaven, Darren Ashford, Ferguson Gerrard, Audrey Riley, Xantoné Blacq and Jon Harris.
I have also gained experience playing in different studios, particularly during 2018. Some of the most important studios I played in are: “dBs Music Studios” in Berlin, where I recorded the bluesman Roberto Puleo’s first Album in March 2018 as well as the iconic “Abbey Road Studios”, where I recorded some tunes for the institute in June 2018.
In the summer of 2018, during a tour in Sardinia (Italy), I started collaborating with important artists from the Italian television such as Joshua Jack (from Amici, Canale 5), Luca Cassol (from Striscia La Notizia, Canale 5) and Viviana Colombo (The Voice of Italy, Rai 2). In the meantime, I played with important musicians like Lord Bishop (from the United States), Pino Di Pietro (Ron and Enrico Ruggeri’s pianist) and Stefano Signoroni (Eros Ramazzotti’s songwriter and pianist).
I’m currently playing with the artist Harry Mold and I’m also playing as session musician around London and the UK.
From November 2019, I'm officially an endorser of the drumstick’s brand Collision Drumsticks.
During the years I gained experience playing around Europe. I used to play different genres that range from rock, blues, pop, electronic till funk, jazz, fusion, Latin, etc.
I've more than 4 years of teaching experience with different levels and ages. I usually do face-to-face lessons.
Lessons have to be different for each student because everyone needs to follow a specific and suited study. In the case that the student does not request a specific tuition, the subjects are subdivided into three sections: Lecture, Stylistic Techniques, and Performance. These are needed in order to build the character of the perfect drummer. It’s also important for me during the lessons to be able to create a peaceful and relaxing environment, so that the student is able to focus on the study with serenity. In the case of teaching kids, it is important to create a situation of game/study to extend and keep the interest in the study of the instrument, avoiding making the lessons become boring.
