Personal Description:
'Simona moved from Italy in 2009 to pursue a career in music here in UK. She lived in London and Leeds, where she graduated from Leeds Conservatoire in Classical Cello and where from she also developed a particular interest for contemporary music, under the tuition of cellist Alfia Nakipbekova (ex pupil of Mstislav Rostropovich at Moscow Conservatoire). Once in College Simona received a Scholarship from ‘Thwaites Fine Stringed Instruments’, a ‘Wolfson Music Award’ for the purchase of a new instrument and an Experience Fund for a ‘Mindfulness for Performers’’ course at Guildhall School of Music & Drama.
Simona’s current and past experiences include delivering Community Music workshops, one-to-one and group cello tuition to students of different ages and abilities, orchestral performances with WOW Orchestra (Royal Festival Hall), Collaborative Orchestra and with the cross-over ensemble New Music Collective, who recently collaborated with singer-songwriter Marc Almond (BBC Radio Leeds).'
Currently remotely studying a Master of Music at Codarts (Rotterdam) and working as cello specialist at Stringers London.
