Information About Simon - Chesham teacher

Personal Description:

I have been a professional saxophonist since 1996 and have over twenty years experience of playing at high level.
I have received several awards for my music: Top Tenor Saxophonist in BRITISH JAZZ AWARDS 2011, Album Of The Year in JAZZ JOURNAL 2009, BBC JAZZ AWARDS RISING STAR 2007 and SERVICES TO BRITISH JAZZ in the 2016 BRITISH JAZZ AWARDS.
I lead my own quartet and have appeared on BBC RADIO 3 and at many prestigious venues ranging from RONNIE SCOTT'S CLUB to major jazz festivals including THE LONDON JAZZ FESTIVAL.
I have worked with jazz talents including US legends like JON HENDRICKS, British jazz icons such as JOHN DANKWORTH and STAN TRACEY and popular artists including MICK HUCKNALL of SIMPLY RED and POP IDOL winner WILL YOUNG.
In addition to this I have composed music for two CHANNEL FOUR **Contact Detail Removed**vision programmes.

Tutoring Experience:

I have taught privately for around twenty years and have given masterclasses for, among others, Sax.co.uk and Dawkes Music, Maidenhead.
I have also taught students on various jazz festival appearances.
I have also lectured on jazz history.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is tailored to the students needs - what does he or she want to do on the saxophone? - and is based on identifying and working towards attainable goals through a series of lessons.
I am also happy to offer "refresher" lessons to those who are already playing proficiently and who may simply require some objective input from another saxophonist.
As well as general tuition I am happy to focus on one particular aspect the student wishes to deal with.
