Personal Description:
Hello there! I'm Simon and I have been playing guitar for 20 years and tutoring professionally for over 8 years, I have a great passion for music and all things guitar! Teaching from my own studio I specialise in rock/pop and metal styles including lead/melodic techniques from beginner to advance, I also teach blues, fingerstyle and acoustic guitar playing.
Having completed an Extended diploma as a music practitioner I have gained a wealth of knowledge in performing, composing and recording, this two-year course was completed under the guidance of some top musicians and songwriters and is also a worldwide recognised qualification, in addition to this I also achieved a Rockschool grade 8 guitar certificate. I am RGT registered and DBS (CRB) checked.
Tutoring Experience:
I have been teaching for over 10 years and have assisted students with graded exams up to grade 8.
I have taught beginner/intermediate students from the basics upwards to advance students who wished to learn theory, Modes, and an array of advanced techniques (sweeping, tapping, arpeggios)
I have taught for Access To Music and in addition to this I have GSCE music teaching experience.
I have both one on one and group teaching experience.
Tutoring Approach:
Learn what you want, how you want to.
Although I can provide a learning structure I'm more than happy to teach just the things you want to know or learn, from help with learning your favorite songs, how to write your own to learning about the theory behind it all, it's up to you! you are never too old to begin and I also teach young children (age 5 and upwards)
I provide printouts for all my students regarding scales, songs chords and theory, these are for you to keep and help make the learning process easier.
I can help expand your playing techniques and knowledge of the fret board, pitch axis theory, modes, scales, improvisation, extended and altered chords or help with those more tricky songs and alternative time signatures.
PLEASE NOTE: Lessons are held on a weekly basis only, this is key to development and progression! There will be a fee for home visits and will vary dependent on your distance from me, stated prices are for lessons I teach from my studio, parents are welcome to sit in on the lesson!

I loved it so much it sparked interest from my (56 year old) Mum, shes now also signed up for lessons with Simon. She's had one lesson so far which she loved and cannot wait to continue on her guitar playing journey.
Highly recommended.
After 6 weeks of lessons with Simon I am still finding each one as exciting as the first. Very good at tailoring guitar to your specific needs and wants.
