Personal Description:

My musical journey began at the Music School of Bonn in Germany, immersed from an early age in the European classical tradition. After relocating to the UK, I studied under the late Peter Pettinger, whose expressive, interpretive approach continues to influence my teaching.

In the 1990s, I toured the UK as part of a signed rock band and worked as a session musician in jazz and Latin styles, gaining first-hand experience across genres. In 2000, I earned two LRSM diplomas in piano performance and teaching from the Royal Schools of Music — rigorous, masters-level qualifications that underpin my work today.

I later became an Apple-certified Logic Pro instructor and, in 2014, founded my own music publishing and production company. My original compositions are now used worldwide by clients including the BBC, helping me stay creatively engaged outside the teaching studio.

Tutoring Experience:

I’ve been teaching privately for over 20 years, working with both adults and children — beginners, returners, and advanced pianists. I’ve taught in higher education as a peripatetic tutor at York St John University and now support learners in piano and Logic Pro from a wide range of musical backgrounds.

My piano students range from complete beginners to advanced players developing their classical repertoire and technique. On the production side, I help learners improve composition, orchestration, mixing, and project delivery in Logic Pro — whether for personal creativity, academic goals, or professional briefs. Many students come to me to prepare showreels, learn how to write to an industry brief, or refine their workflow with real-world insight.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is expressive, flexible, and student-centred. I don’t prepare students for graded exams — instead, I focus on helping them build confidence, deepen their understanding, and enjoy making music on their own terms. Whether you’re returning to the piano after years away or starting from scratch as an adult, lessons are always tailored to your pace and your interests.

In music production lessons, I take a practical, creative approach backed by professional experience. I’ll guide you through the “how” and the “why” — from production fundamentals and advanced MIDI workflows to writing music to a brief, mixing and mastering, or preparing a professional showreel. Lessons are designed to be inspiring, hands-on, and directly relevant to your goals.
