Information About Scott - Prestwick teacher

Personal Description:

I have been a professional musician for 15 years and have been studying percussion for nearly 25 years. I grew up playing in various genres of music, from traditional Scottish to Rock to Jazz and Classical. Since graduating from University with a 1st Class Hons in Applied Music(where I was awarded a prize for excellence for my final year recital), I have been playing and touring around the world, performing with various groups and artists.

Tutoring Experience:

My teaching experience is wide ranging, from primary 2 right up to adults and from beginners to advanced players. I teach in schools and colleges, preparing students for SQA and private graded exams at all levels. I have taught in groups and led ensembles, as well as one-to-one situations.

Tutoring Approach:

I try to make lessons as fun and as accessible as possible. Someone who has sought out private tuition generally has a desire to be there, however I still feel it is something to be enjoyed. I structure my lessons into three areas; rudiments/technique, rhythmic studies/sight-reading and drum kit work. This can be tailored to suit the needs and requirements of an individual student. I have a wealth of material to draw upon for all styles.
