This is how 2 referees rated Sarah:
I started learning the violin at the age of 4 and studied with the late Howard Davis, Winifred Roberts and Carmel Kaine. I completed a degree in music at Exeter University before completing my musical education with a post graduate performers course at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
My first love is chamber music and I perform regularly with many ensembles including the Regent Quartet, Reflection Strings and the Palatine String Quartet. I am also currently guest leader of The Surrey Mozart Players.
In addition I perform with local orchestras including the Merriman Orchestra based at Cranleigh School, Guildford Opera Company and Southern Sinfonia.
I started teaching whilst at University and have taught at prestigious schools including the Royal Masonic School for Girls, St Nicholas' School in Fleet, Box Hill School in Dorking and South Hampstead High School. I teach all grades up to and including grade 8 and am able to accompany pupils in ABRSM exams saving the stress of having to find an accompanist.
I believe a structured approach to learning an instrument such as the violin gets the best results. I use studies and exercises in addition to scales and pieces to help increase technique and improve the overall quality of violin playing.
If needed I am able to teach up to and including Grade 5 theory to allow pupils to progress onto the higher grade exams.
