Personal Description:
I teach the cello to all levels, children and adult.
I specialise in teaching pre-instrumental classes to children aged 4-7 which include an introduction to learning the piano/keyboard using the 'Dogs and Birds' method. I teach in small groups of 3-4 children and other activities include singing and lots of musical games to teach rhythm and pitch. I have a dipLCM in piano performance.
I have a few spaces for beginner piano pupils.
Tutoring Experience:
I have been teaching private music lessons and in schools for 20 years. I have four children myself so hopefully understand their varying needs.
Tutoring Approach:
I accept differing abilities of children and work with them at their pace. However, I do require a commitment to practice. For young children in groups, this is just 5 minutes 3-4 times a week to start with and then builds as time progresses.
As a cello teacher, for younger children I like to use Kodaly based resources. For adults, I am flexible about either working towards grades or just playing for fun.
