Information About Samuel - Ealing teacher
I am currently in the second year of a Masters of Performance at the Royal College of Music studying under Tim Jones, Nigel Black and Jeff Bryant. Previously I achieved a Bachelor of Music at the University of Birmingham (2.1 grading) specialising in performance. I have played in multiple projects at the Royal College of Music, played with the CBSO Youth Orchestra for three years and was a principal of both of the Orchestras at the University of Birmingham, plus playing with many other orchestras.
I have worked at a school as a September job for the past five years. This involved helping students to get settled into their new school and helping the staff to run this chaotic time of the year as efficiently as possible. I am currently on the RCM Teaching Service's books and am looking forward to working with new students. I also taught musicians of my own age as part of a charity event where you learn a fresh instrument from scratch and perform a concert at the end of it.
Primarily I want learning to be enjoyable. In order for a student to want to improve at something they have to have the motivation to do it, so I try to find how to incorporate improvement into this, tailored to the individual student.
For older students I try to understand what they want from learning the instrument and teach them accordingly, whilst still trying to maintain the above philosophy.
