This is how 2 referees rated Samantha:
After several years of experience in choirs and musical theatre shows through both primary and secondary school, I continued with my passion for the arts at university. I developed tons of skills including arranging, transcription, songwriting, and employability and leadership, and I also performed and improvised in genres all across pop music. For my dissertation I arranged covers of popular songs of various genres for a seven-piece jazz band.
I've been tutoring since July 2016, and I also currently lead a secondary school choir. Since starting this business I've seen many of my students develop their confidence in not just their singing, but in themselves in general. Music is an incredible way to challenge yourself, and it really does pay off! I've seen students perform in their first musicals and pass with flying colours in LCM/ABRSM exams.
I have gained enough experience and knowledge over the years to teach people of all ages and vocal ranges confidently using techniques that are easy to understand. I feel that a good teacher breaks down the barrier of authority between them and the student, so my approach to tutoring is very informal and casual. The most important thing to me is making you feel comfortable in our lessons.
My first session with you won't involve much coaching, as this will mainly be about me getting to know you and your voice, what you want to get out of our lessons together, etc. Because of this I offer a discount on the hourly rate. It is completely up to you what songs you want to learn, but please give notice before a lesson to allow for preparation. £15 for first session, £25 afterwards as standard rate, £15 for under-13s.
I have made the spare room in my flat a designated music room. I have plenty of sheet music other resources (piano and acoustic guitar and access to backing tracks online), and I'm happy to provide you with your own copies of material for additional fees. It is completely up to you what songs you want to learn, but please give notice before a lesson to allow for preparation.
If distance means getting to the flat is a problem, I am also able to provide online sessions via **Contact Detail Removed**, and take payment via online banking.
Looking for the perfect present for a budding singer? Why not buy a few lessons in bulk to get them started? I send out vouchers in the post for something for them to unwrap, and take payment via online banking.
