Personal Description:

I am a Concert Pianist and a PhD researcher at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. I have taught piano for over a decade to children and adults - from beginners to conservatoire students. I absolutely adore music and it brings me joy to share my knowledge with my students.

Longer Biography below:

Salome was born in Tbilisi, Georgia and started playing piano at the age of 16. During her years at the Tbilisi State Conservatoire, she was a holder of the Presidential Scholarship for four consecutive years and was very fortunate to be the last student of the renowned piano professor Nana Khubutia. After graduating with honours, she continued her studies at the Academy of Music in Krakow with Prof. Dr Hab. Andrzej Pikul and Dr. Marian Sobula and the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw with Prof. Dr Hab. Jerzy Romaniuk. During her studies in Poland, she became a laureate of a number of international piano competitions including the 2nd prize at the Mihailo Vukdragovic Piano Competition for young musicians (Sabac, Serbia), 2nd prize at the Tengiz Amirejibi International Piano Competition (Borjomi, Georgia) and the 2nd prize at the Chopin Competition for young pianists (Dnipro, Ukraine).

In 2017, Salome was selected by the Chopin Society in Warsaw to be their representative and has been giving recitals and chamber music concerts in “Nowy Swiat Muzyki” and the Chopin Salon ever since. She has performed about 100 concerts at these venues.

In 2019, after her first recital in Paris in Cormeilles-en-Parisis she was invited to participate in the festival “Georgian Immigrant Musicians in Tbilisi” which brings Georgian musicians from all around the world back to their homeland where they play chamber music concerts and give master classes in different music schools throughout Georgia. This was followed by an invitation to the Piano Festival at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.

Salome regularly takes part in the most prestigious festivals in Georgia, including “the Contemporary Music Festival of Tbilisi”, “From Easter to Ascension” and “Kontrapuknt”. She participated in the “Night Serenades International Music Festival” with renowned Swiss violinist Geza Hosszu-Legocky.

Salome has taken master classes with many distinguished professors including Paul Badura-Skoda, Stephen Kovacevich, Stephen Hough, Sergey Babayan, Nikolai Demidenko, Norma Fisher, Boris Petrushansky, Peter Frankl, Wojciech Switala, Andrzej Jasinski, Krzysztof Jablonski, Klaus Hellwig, Natalia Troull, Michael Leuschner, Anna Malikova, Philippe Giusiano and Alexander Korsantia.

Salome recently completed Advanced Postgraduate Degree at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire on full scholarship, where she was also a recipient of the Bradshaw Bursary. She studied with Pascal Nemirovski, John Thwaites and Mikhail Kazakevich.

Her recent concert engagements include a lunchtime concert at the Birmingham Symphony Hall, Novemberfest at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Playing Beethoven's Hammerklavier Sonata at the Beethoven Festival of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, the Ulverston Festival and the Chipping Campden Music Festival.

She is now enrolled on a PhD course at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire where she is funded by AHRC Midlands4Cities Doctoral Training Partnership.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching piano for the past 10 years to children and adults on all levels, including ABRSM (all grades). I was also a professor's assistant and helped Bachelor's Piano Students prepare their demanding repertoire.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching varies from student to student, but one aspect remains unchanged - I want all my students to fall in love with music.
Depending on what the student is looking for, we can come up with a plan and set goals to get great results!
