Personal Description:

I live in the UK and have many interests, as well as teaching I am a dance accompanist and love all types of music. I enjoy walking my dog, birdwatching and caravanning.

Tutoring Experience:

I have taught many years . 30 of these working in Schools as a peripatetic and occasional class music teacher. The past 8 years I have run my own teaching studio in Horsham and since lockdown given all lessons on line. I have many adult students as well as children. I enter pupils for ABRSM and Trinity College Examinations and also teach ABRSM Theory up to Grade 5.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to music tuition is it has to be fun and enjoyable for all. With children I explore improvisation as well as following method books. With my adults the lessons are focused on their particular interest. If they wish to play Classical, Pop, Jazz or just learn chords to use a lead sheet then this is the path I will follow. Exams are offered but not forced and for those who take exams I always have a “fun” term afterwards where all other types of music are studied. I am very broad minded with my musical taste and feel I can offer this to others
