Personal Description:
*Note: I am currently only available to teach during school hours, I am fully booked for after school and weekend work*
I have loved music for as long as I can remember, having started my first piano lessons at the age of 5. I have achieved grade 8 in piano, and spent all of my spare time whilst at school playing for county groups.
I have continued to play the piano throughout my adult life, and love sharing my passion for music through teaching. I also tutor mathematics (please see my FirstTutors Academic profile).
Tutoring Experience:
I have 3 years experience teaching piano privately to beginner students across all age ranges. I have a range of resources to aid both learning the piano and learning to read music.
I also have 2 years experience working at the local college, and from this a Preparing to Teach in the Life Long Learning Sector (PTLLS) qualification. I have also privately tutored students in mathematics on and off for 10 years, having recently taught students through the 2020 exam period in Edexcel and AQA maths and physics exams. I have an enhanced and updated DBS certificate.
Tutoring Approach:
Whatever age you may be, knowing the basics such as theory and scales will speed up your learning process! They may sound dull, but will be taught in fun and interactive ways. I am happy to teach for all purposes - those who wish to progress through the grade system and those who wish to learn for their own private enjoyment (and anyone in between!).
Lessons will always be individually tailored to suit the needs of the students.

RosieFrom Lynne (5/5): We have been very pleased with how Rosie ran the Maths lessons for our teenage son. She was very good at explaining when he didn’t understand a subject and also gave him very useful guidance on how to approach his exam. Our son liked the way Rosie ran the sessions and how she explained things. There were previous papers to do between lessons which helped to gauge where extra support was needed.

From Jane (/5): We asked for Rosie's help in the build up to Sam's GCSE maths exam this year. Rosie has made a huge difference to Sam's confidence since she stated helping him in April this year. We even received a message from Sam's maths teacher stating that she had noticed a huge difference in Sam's ability and approach to maths in the lessons.

From Graham (/5): Rosie is always punctual, very pleasant and professional. She has had a very positive influence on our daughter leading up to her maths GCSE.
Even though we have not had her results yet, our daughter feels that she could not have coped with the higher paper without her help.

From Tracey (/5): Rosie has been an enormous help in preparing for Maths GCSE. Her manner is professional and friendly and the girls respond well to her. They enjoy their time with Rosie and have gained confidence in their understanding of maths. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Rosie as a maths Tutor.
From Marcus (/5): My son was struggling with Maths and in turn his confidence around this subject was extremely low. Rosie has been a breath of fresh air and her fun approach to learning has transformed my sons confidence and attitude to this subject (I didn't think I would hear my son laughing during a Maths lesson!!). She is always punctual, accommodating when we need to change times etc. but more importantly she genuinely cares. We are extremely pleased that we found Rosie and I cannot recommend her enough.

From Angela (/5): Rosie is a great teacher and was amazing especially as we lost our other maths tutor 3 months before our son took his GCSE's and was in the process of being tested for discalculi which turned out to be positive. She hit the ground running, was puncuntual, reliable.
We found Rosie very easy to get on with and she bonded well with our son. They had fun in the sessions which was so important. Won't have any problems recommending her to anyone and would definately use her again.

From Sharon (/5): Rosie has helped with maths enormously for our Grandson, he said when he doesn't 'get it' she understands what the problem is so she help him sort it out to get the answer. He now isn't afraid of maths, when he's finished his lesson he says he really enjoyed it! Result!

From Nick (/5): Rosie is a brilliant tutor! She always comes very prepared and has a firm grasp of the subject. I would definitely recommend her to anyone that needs help with math. (She also teaches piano!) Dispute a small language barrier and my ADHD, Rosie managed to make a massive amount of information stick in the little time we had. She's very versatile, and able to change her tune as needed to make complicated operations seem easy.
Rosie is young and relatable with great people skills. She's easy to talk to and we always had a laugh. I look forward to every lesson. Don't hesitate to contact Rosie, you won't be disappointed! :)

From Ayesha (/5): Rosie is a wonderful maths tutor. Kind and caring, but makes sure you get the work needed done! I had Rosie as a tutor to lead up to my GCSE maths exam and it truly helped having her tutor me. She's also very patient and uses effective methods to teach which are incredibly helpful as I was struggling a lot.
