Personal Description:

Having alway found music a tremendous resource for myself growing up , both on my own and socially becoming part of an orchestra, I trained in Music Education just over 30 years ago and have always had a passion for helping people tap into their passions and helping them express themselves through music.
My instruments are Clarinet and Piano and listening and enjoying a variety of music is a vital part of my life.
I am married, have three grown up daughters and a grandson and love celebrating life!
To me music is just that!

Tutoring Experience:

I have had the joy of helping many children both in schools in Surrey and Hampshire and in my private practise experience the joy of making music.
I also have helped many adults find the joy and benefits of learning an instrument for the first time as well as see some return to a childhood hobby.
I have helped many children and adults over the years achieve their Grade Exams.
I have also helped very young children experience and enjoy music in an informal way through the use of percussion instruments and movement as well as art work and consequently go on to find their chosen instrument.

Tutoring Approach:

I see my role as a music teacher as more than just teaching someone to play an instrument, and often observe pupils learning so much about themselves through their experience of learning to play which helps in all areas of their life.

With my skills as a trained coach and clean language facilitator, I help pupils to stand on their own two feet as quickly as possible, helping them not only to develop the skills to read and play music put in front of them, use their ear and natural musicality, but also through the unique group sessions I run, enable them to notice for themselves how much they know and can work things out for themselves. This results in them being able to trust themselves, develop their performance confidence, get comfortable with receiving feedback and coloborate with others to make their own music compositions.

I love bringing the arts together in my sessions and produce collaborative performances.
