Personal Description:

Hello, my name is Rosa, I am currently studying for a Music BA at the University of Bristol, specialising in Vocal Performance. Due to my love of performing I am confident, smiley and outgoing, offering good communication and ability. I am extremely hard-working and possess a lot of determination in completing tasks successfully and efficiently. I am especially keen to learn new skills in order to develop my existing abilities. My passion for music not only stems from the great, inspiring teachers I have had the opportunity to have whilst growing up, but also through my love of creativity. All genres of music appeal to me, however, my favourites are Pop, Folk, Jazz, Classical, Baroque, Opera and Musical theatre. I have completed ABRSM Grade 8 Signing with Distinction and Grade 8 Piano. Along with this, I have achieved Grade 6 Music theory. I also have a huge passion for the guitar and use it to accompany myself as I am a keen singer/songwriter. I would love to be able to inspire budding musicians and pass on my knowledge.

Tutoring Experience:

I have worked as a free-lance singing and piano teacher since 2018 and have had very positive feedback from my students. I am currently the Co-Musical Director of All Sharps A Cappella - one of the leading A Cappella groups at the University of Bristol and the Musical Director of The Bristol Suspensions - the ICCA UK Champions of A Cappella. Previously this year I was appointed the Assistant Director of the Magic Flute, Mozart, as part of the Bristol University Opera Society. These roles have allowed me to expand and develop my teaching skills.

Tutoring Approach:

The most vital aspect of music tuition is fun! Learning an instrument should never feel like a chore and I believe that the best way to approach Music tuition is through enthusiasm, encouragement and enjoyment. If a student enjoys their subject, they are more likely to succeed and make good progress. I strive to create a fun and comfortable environment and hope to inspire students through my passion and understanding of the subjects on offer. As well as this, I believe that a true understanding of the basics and fundamental skills are required to be an accomplished musician, especially when learning an instrument/voice. When approaching Vocal tuition I focus on vowel placement, support and using the voice healthily. I enjoy working with aspiring singers of all ages and abilities in order to help people sing the music they love in the healthiest way possible. I am able to help prepare pupils for concerts, exams, and teach the foundations of music to anyone wanting to learn how to read music and increase their musicality.
I encourage my students to foster a strong and healthy vocal technique, excellent musicianship and strong performance ability.
