Personal Description:
Rosa is an experienced musician and teacher with a passion for sharing her lifelong love of music. This is a dynamic she brings into her lessons, where she strives to create a relaxed and friendly environment that is tailored to each student’s specific needs and goals.
Rosa was classically trained from a young age, achieving Grade 8 and earning an ATCL piano performance diploma by the age of 18. She also studied percussion, achieving a Grade 8 distinction in Orchestral Percussion. Rosa went on to study BA Music and English at the University of Leeds, where she specialised in classical piano performance. Just recently, Rosa graduated from SOAS University of London, where she undertook an MA in Music in Development, culminating her studies with a focus on Cuban piano. She now works as a musician alongside her teaching, gigging in a plethora of bands playing piano, bass, synth and percussion. She enjoys exploring her musical voice through a wide variety of genres, including classical, jazz, Latin, pop, and experimental.
Tutoring Experience:
Rosa has been teaching the piano to students of all ages and abilities for 15 years now, and is used to adapting her teaching techniques to suit each individual student and learner. She regularly teaches the piano in schools, music centres, and privately. She also has experience in teaching music to group classes, as well as leading music workshops to large groups. Her approach to teaching is research-informed and practice-based, with a focus on varying teaching approaches for each individual student.
Tutoring Approach:
In her lessons, Rosa loves engaging with her students and progressing through their musical journey together, exploring and discovering different learning pathways with each and every student. Rosa’s lessons begin with a discussion around personal goals and aims, and she then creates a learning plan that will allow the student to progress in a way that suits their specific desires and abilities. She usually teaches (but is not limited to) classical, jazz, theory, technique, improvisation, composition and pop. She also coaches students through graded exams (ABRSM and Trinity College London), and has a 100% distinction rate.

Rosa really made effort to personalise my learning, always made sure that we were working towards my personal goals. I learned a lot, and had a lot of fun doing it. I was gutted when she left the Leeds area last year.
Fantastic tutor and person, I can't recommend her enough!
A good patient teacher with a nice manner. Encouraging
Great that she is flexible with lessons too.
I'm really glad that I chose Rosa to be my first piano teacher. She's a young pianist who is of similar age of mine, making it quite easy to communicate with. Rosa is enthusiastic with playing music and very helpful to give me some instructions while I meet some difficulties. Moreover, she is quite inspiring as she always give me some praise if I a did a good job, so that I feel the teaching and learning very interesting.
Another good thing is that Rosa indeed think about how to carry on the courses from my perspective and design the teaching plans suitable for me. Being a former violinist, I expressed my wish to enhance music theories and to learn piano in a rather academic way (I care more about developing finger techniques and basic skills than rushing to play simple pieces of music). Rosa fully get my idea and I'm quite pleased about the stuff she gives to me. I will continue learn after Rosa, wishing to have a bigger improvement.
