Personal Description:

Since arriving in the UK in 1998, Roland has been hailed as a guitarist’s guitarist by the likes of John Renbourn and Tommy Emmanuel. His recordings with Steve Vai, Barriemore Barlow (Jethro Tull) and the English Chamber Orchestra are regarded as classics of their type. Other credits include: Mike Lindup – Level 42, Sir George Martin, Andy Sheppard, Alan Glen – The Yardbirds. Critics have been unanimous in their praise of his virtuosity, versatility and originality.

Tutoring Experience:

Guitar Teacher with over 30 years experience teaching in schools and privately.
Skilled in Classical, Blues, Rock, Folk and Jazz performance styles.
Skilled in the teaching of Composition, Song Writing and Music Theory.
In GCSE and A Level Exams my students have passed with 100% success rate and indeed many of them have attained 100% performance mark.
In Trinity and ABRSM Exams my students have achieved a 100% pass rate with many High Merits and Distinctions.

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to produce inspired, confidant and educated guitarists who can take their place in a wider world of musical creation as leaders and as eager participants.

As an actively performing musician I not only bring 40 years of performing, recording and compositional experience to each lesson but also the lessons freshly learnt from last weekend’s gigs.

My students can count on me to bring the best of me to every lesson and when they have an exam, I’m there for them. When they have a performance, I’m there for them and when they need a new guitar I make every effort to help them find the guitar that will best fulfil their personal vision.
