Personal Description:

I have recently moved to Waterlooville and have vacancies for violin pupils. I have a wealth of experience as a teacher and freelance violnist. After graduating from the RNCM I joined the Regimental Band of Her Majesty's Scots Guards during which time I led the orchestra on the violin playing for investitures at Buckingham Palace and state occasions and was principal saxophone in the regimental band. I also travelled extensively in Europe and the United. Since leaving the army I have been teaching pupils of all ages, continued orchestral playing, leading a number of orchestras in the West Country, some solo work and lots of chamber music.

Tutoring Experience:

Most of my experience teaching within the school environment has been as a peripatetic string teacher. Between 1997-2003 I worked for Somerset Music at a number of primary and secondary schools in the Yeovil area and Hazlegrove preparatory school. My Suzuki group performed regularly in the South Somerset Music Spectacular (a concert for all the schools in South Somerset).This involved rehearsing three groups of different age and ability, then combining them (over 70 strong) for the performance.
They always started the show and, although I say it myself, were a hard act to follow!

Tutoring Approach:

My passion for playing the violin has never diminished, which makes it easy for me to motivate and enthuse my pupils to play to the best of their ability. Accustomed to teaching pupils of all ages and abilities (4-80 years) I have developed strong interpersonal skills and adapt my teaching style to the needs of the pupil.
