Personal Description:

Highly experienced musician qualified to teach brass and piano to all ages from beginner to advanced.
Can also teach bass guitar to a high standard for rock/function bands.
Having been classically trained on piano (Grade 7) and trombone (Grade 8 with distinction) from a young age and then becoming a professional musician at 18, I have over 40 years experience of playing and teaching all genres of music from classical to rock, dance band to brass band and everything else in between.
I am currently playing semi-pro in a local bands in and around the Buckingham Banbury area on bass guitar and keyboards.

Tutoring Experience:

I started teaching music soon after joining the army as a musician. Teaching pratical, aural and theory to junior ranks (up to diploma standard) in the military band.
After leaving the army I privately taught for a number of years. Instruments included brass, saxophone and piano. These students were a mixture of casual players and studing towards grades.
I gave up teaching a few years ago when I changed jobs but now the opportunity has opened up for me to start teaching again.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to music tuition is first and foremost to enjoy it. If you don't enjoy it you will not learn.
Secondly to understand the basics, especially to beginners. i.e. How the theory of music works.
If you are a more advanced player then concentrate on the performance style and interpretation of the music.

Lessons usually take place in my own home but I can travel locally.
In and around the Buckingham area rates are just £15.00 for a half hour lesson, or as a block booking of 5 lessons and get the 6th free. If I travel to you then a £5 extra charge outside the Buckingham area.

I am CRB advanced checked to work with children and young adults.
