Information About Rob - Kirkcaldy teacher
This is how 2 referees rated Rob:
I am a piano teacher, music theory teacher, pianist and accompanist living in Kirkcaldy. For eight years I served in the Band of Her Majesties Royal Marines as a pianist and clarinettist; performing music across the globe, from Washington DC to Shanghai and at many prestigious venues such as The Royal Albert Hall, The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, Holyrood Palace, Usher Hall, The Royal Yatch Britannia and many more.
I have regularly played in a variety of ensembles, encompassing a broad spectrum of music such as chamber orchestras, contemporary symphonic wind band, jazz quartets, solo cocktail piano, big band and popular function bands as well as traditional military band. My main field, however, is classical piano.
As well as my role as a performer, I have also served as an assistant academic instructor, providing tuition in music theory and harmony as well as accompanying exam candidates.
In 2011 I was posted to Scotland (Rosyth) before leaving the service in 2013 to enrol at Edinburgh Napier University. I have acquired a licentiate diploma in piano performance from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, LRSM as well as a bachelor of music honours degree, BMus(Hons).
Four years experience as a full-time piano teacher and performer
Unlike many piano teachers I have a great deal of experience of performing music at high profile events and to a paying audience. My approach to teaching is very much centered around communicating to the listener and engaging with music, this is achieved by developing and nurturing freedom at the piano, and not feeling constrained and under pressure to "do it correctly every single time". Music making should be liberating and enjoyable, even at a professional level, and this is what I encourage from the first lesson to the last.
