Personal Description:

I have been a professional musician/teacher/examiner for 25 years. My playing experience includes radio, **Contact Detail Removed**vision credits and international touring. In my personal life my wife and I have four children and a pet dog. My hobbies include windsurfing, mountain biking and all things outdoors.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching for 25 years for both my home teaching practice and and in local schools and colleges for essex county council. I teach all age groups in all styles of guitar including electric, classical, acoustic and bass guitar. In recent years i have expanded my teaching skills to include drum kit tuition which i have developed quite a passion for. Hundreds of my students have progressed through their grades whilst studying with me and many have gone on to teach or play professionally, some in well known signed bands.

Tutoring Approach:

My emphasis on tuition is both results and fun. I like my students to study for grades as this gives structured learning and goals to aim for. Advanced grades can be used for entry to university from Ucas points, grades also provide students with all the necessary skills to help succeed in music and in life generally. All lessons must be fun and enjoyable to keep students motivated and happy. I will tailor lessons to students musical interests by working out and transcribing songs and pieces they like, whilst still pointing them towards artists from the past and present to demonstrate theory, technique etc. I have a comfortable sound proof studio and encourage students to play together and I organise jam sessions for them.
