Personal Description:
I'm a dedicated and experienced music teacher based in North London. I hold a PhD in Composition from the Royal Academy of Music, where I was made an honorary Associate (ARAM) in 2019. Nominated for four British Composer Awards (Ivors), my music has been performed internationally. I also have an MPhil in Composition from the University of Birmingham and a 1st class BMus degree from the University of Sheffield. I enjoy teaching privately and at the Royal College of Music and Trinity Laban Conservatoire junior departments.
Tutoring Experience:
Deputy Teacher in Composition at the Royal College of Music Junior Department (2016-present)
Deputy Teacher in Composition at Trinity Laban Conservatoire Junior Department (2017-present)
Teaching assistant in undergraduate composition at the University of Birmingham for two years (2006-2008)
Private teacher of composition, theory and piano in London (2008-present)
Tutoring Approach:
I passionately believe in giving students the tools they need to unlock their full potential. I specialise in teaching grades 5-8 theory, GCSE and A-level Composition and Analysis, and general Composition. Each lesson is tailored to the particular needs of the pupil and is designed to stimulate and inspire, whilst covering all areas of technical instruction. My students generally achieve the highest grades (Distinction / A*) Please get in touch for more details.
"You really are the best teacher I have ever had - I looked forward to every lesson" - Former student who gained A* in Music A-level (2022)
