Information About Rhys - Blandford Forum teacher
This is how 2 referees rated Rhys:
I've been playing guitar for over 25 years and I've learnt a lot in that time. I love sharing that knowledge through teaching and helping other guitarists stay motivated, inspired and engaged on their own journey. I've studied quite a few different styles, but I mainly focus on rock, metal, blues and country. Some of my favourite players include Dimebag Darrell, Eric Johnson, Eddie Van Halen, Paul Gilbert and Jason Becker.
I hold a Grade 8 in Electric Guitar Performance through RGT (Distinction) and a Grade 8 in Popular Music Theory through The University of West London (Distinction). I'm currently working on a Diploma in Teaching Electric Guitar through RGT and will be sitting the examination later this year.
I've been teaching for 5 years and find it very rewarding. I have experience with teaching complete beginners, as well as more experienced players looking to cover certain techniques or elements of music theory. Having worked through the RGT exam process myself, I'm also familiar with the process and examination requirements.
I believe motivation and inspiration are key components to learning music, especially in the early stages. As such, I focus lessons around songs and artists that students enjoy and connect with. I find this really helps engagement and makes the learning experience more enjoyable.
All lessons are underpinned by a syllabus, meaning learning is structured and all key topics and areas are covered over time. I also like to underpin lessons with music theory in a bite-size and manageable way as it has such a positive impact on development.
