Personal Description:

Singing and piano have been major parts of my life and I have studied both through to diploma level. I have sung in many church and secular choirs and have been on choir tours to sing abroad in churches and cathedrals. I am a soprano soloist and have sung solos in Vivaldi's Gloria, Faure's Requiem, West Side Story and have also sung solos at weddings and funerals.

Tutoring Experience:

I taught Music, Drama and Dance in two preparatory schools with ages 3 to 13 for twelve years. Whilst there I conducted the prep prep and prep school choirs and accompanied them for concerts and services. Since then I have developed music in the early years through singing, keyboard and instrumental work to groups and individuals. I have directed and accompanied a number of church choirs over a sustained period.

Tutoring Approach:

I want to know about each student's interests and what they already know regarding singing or piano and if they have had any previous experience in either. I would tailor make a lesson to suit each student's needs. A singing lesson would include breathing exercises, vocal warm-ups, learning songs, sight singing, aural and general musicianship. A piano lesson would include learning warm-up and general musicianship skills, a range of pieces, sight reading and aural. I would include a range of learning options including musical theatre and the possible focus on ABRSM exams. I also offer on line tuition.
