Personal Description:

I am a cellist currently studying for my undergraduate degree at the Royal Northern College of Music. I have studied with teachers such as Alexander Boyarsky and Jennifer Langridge and had masterclasses with cellists such as Hannah Roberts and Leonard Elschenbroich. I started learning the cello at the age of 4 and as a child played in the National Children's Orchestra and afterwards studied at the Royal College of Music Junior Department playing in chamber ensembles, orchestras and many solo performances.

My second study is singing and I frequently sing in both large chorus choirs and chamber choirs at RNCM. I have taken the ABRSM grades 1-8 in both cello and singing and I have directed children's choirs in local schools to advocate music and the joy of singing. I teach music theory alongside practical studies and have taken the ABRSM grades up to 6 as well as having a rounded knowledge of music theory through non-grade specific classes at RCMJD, through A level music and RNCM as well.

Tutoring Experience:

I teach cello to students of all ages from beginners to advanced cellists, most recently starting in Heaton Norris Music School as well as privately. I am well equipped to teach and prepare students for ABRSM exams for cello, singing and theory; my students frequently achieve high grades. However, exams don't have to be a goal and learning for joy is just as important to me.

I am also happy to help students prepare for GCSE or A level music or equivalent.

Tutoring Approach:

I love giving people happiness and helping them develop new skills. I will teach at the pace that you want to learn at and always with kind and gentle encouragement that inspires you to practice and learn for yourself. I would just love to help to develop your enjoyment of music!

***NOTE*** I am happy to teach students who already have started lessons in cello, theory or singing online from now until September 2021. If you are a beginner, don't hesitate to contact me and we can discuss beginning lessons with the new term in September.
