Personal Description:

I’m Rachel, a private woodwind teacher in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. My primary instruments are flute and alto saxophone, but I do also play bassoon and clarinet.

All students are welcome, whether child or adult, and particularly beginners. I’m happy to work with students to grow their skill and interest, and can help them work towards exams if desired.

I’ve played with several local bands in the area for a few years, including the Whitby Music Centre bands so have a good relationship with the local musical community.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been playing for several years and enjoy helping others to start their own musical journey. I am active in local bands including Whitby Music Centre, Scarborough Concert Band, and the Scarborough Big band Skyliner, which I now manage.
I am currently studying for a Masters degree in Music Education (Instrumental Teaching) at the University of York.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in a student-centred, collaborative approach so that students feel comfortable and grow in confidence as they work towards their own goals. I enjoy encouraging students to flourish.
