Personal Description:
I started my career as a choral scholar at King's College London, going on to take a masters in Vocal Performance at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
I have 20 years ongoing experience as a professional singer, performing in major venues around the world with groups including the BBC Singers, Monteverdi Choir, Gabrieli Consort, Armonico Consort. I also record music for film and TV in the studio.
Tutoring Experience:
I have run my private teaching studio and worked as a school peripatetic teacher for 11 years.
i am comfortable working with all age groups.
Recently my students have achieved excellent results in ABRSM, Trinity and LCM exams and also at A level and have performed very successfully in concerts and auditions.
Tutoring Approach:
I offer tuition tailormade to the abilities and interests of each student.
Classical, music theatre and beyond. Vocal technique, performance skills, preparation for exams or auditions, sightreading and aural skills, music theory, advice towards professional training and careers. I teach children from 10 years, commited singers 16+ looking to move their training to the next level and keen adults singing for pleasure. I believe healthy, effective technique is crucial to a singer’s development. I can provide guided warm-ups, practise strategies and repertoire advice which enable you to understand how your voice works and develop and enjoy your singing to the highest standard.
My performing experience means I am in the unique position of being able to guide my students towards the right training for a professional career if they desire.
I am very interested in new developments in vocal research and teaching, and regularly attend events with associations such as AOTOS and BVA to keep up to date with these…
