Personal Description:
Music has always been a large and important part of my life. I come from a musical family and learnt both the violin and the piano from a young age. I enjoy playing and composing music, playing in orchestras and Irish music bands. I played piano internationally whilst on a world tour trip in countries such as Australia and China.
Tutoring Experience:
I have 12 years teaching experience as a violin and piano tutor, helping students excel in practical and theoretical skills including aural skills. I also have experience as a GCSE music teacher in a secondary school setting teaching from the national curriculum. I helped students progress to their desired level in a fun environment.
Bachelors in Contemporary Music from Leeds University (piano and violin)
Tutoring Approach:
The aim of my teaching on a beginner level is to fuel a passion for music while building the foundations. My students develop a good technique to progress fluently. For intermediate level my students play with precision and accuracy while creating an enjoyable experience during our lessons. We will focus on performance repertoire and my pupils are encouraged to select their own repertoire from a range of musical styles and eras (eg. Baroque, classical, romantic, 20th century, jazz).
