Personal Description:
I am a musician/teacher with 40 years of varied experience, very broad musical interests and tastes, wide performing experience and an unusual set of skills and knowledge.
I have worked successfully with students of all ages and at all levels - I really enjoy teaching beginners but have also helped former students to diplomas, scholarships and college entrance. Outside music I enjoy cycling and outdoor life.
Tutoring Experience:
40 years including 12 years Kingston University (Trombone & Euphonium), 10 years West Sussex Music Service (Brass) 7 years East Sussex Music Service (Piano/Keyboard/Brass) 20 years private teacher and independent schools (Piano). Also 25 years Alexander Technique (Kingston University, Northbrook College and privately).
Tutoring Approach:
Having assessed the student's experience, interests and aims, I plan courses of work individually around music carefully chosen to their understanding and ability. I use duet playing in piano lessons and accompanied sessions in brass lessons to give a more rounded musical experience and always aim to deliver high quality and attention to detail in a relaxed and informal and fun way. I especially like teaching keyboard harmony which opens a range of options for advancing piano and keyboard students from classical to jazz/rock/pro keys
