Personal Description:

I have enjoyed being involved in music all my life and as well as playing and teaching the piano. I sing in a local choir , play the guitar and the flute. I love to teach both children and adults and have extensive experience with both.

Tutoring Experience:

I have a Teaching Certificate ABRSM (piano). I have grade 5 flute and grade 6 music theory. I teach beginners and more advanced students.I have over ten years of piano tuition experience with both adults and children. Most students opt to take examinations for which i have a 98% success rate with most students achieving a merit and some at distinction level. I use the ABRSM examination board.However I am equally at home where students prefer to learn using repertoire and simply for the joy of musicI have an M.Ed in Special Needs in Education and am very experienced in working with children with special needs and music. Children and Adults with special needs are welcome.

Tutoring Approach:

I have an open minded approach to teaching and like to vary my style according to individual needs ,whether adults or children are learning for pleasure or to enter grade examinations. I use a variety of resources in each lesson but each student needs to purchase their own tutor book. I have a selection of tutor books that I prefer to use and which I can show to pupils at their first lesson.With young children I like to use stories and puppets in my teaching with an accent on fun.Feedback from students and parents is that I am approachable and encouraging.
