Personal Description:

My name is Paul, and I have had over 40 years playing experience, and done periods of teaching at the same time. I have played as a guitarist, keyboard player, pianist, arranger, percussionist, singer, both backing and lead. I have been blessed with an extremely good ear for harmony and melody, and music comes naturally to me. I drive my wife insane with constant tapping and singing, and the musicians I have worked with over the years look on me as a musical reference point for whether chords are correct, balanced and working together.
I live near to Teignmouth and Newton Abbot in Devon, but I am willing to travel reasonable distances to encourage people who love music as much as me

Tutoring Experience:

I have taught children as well as adults privately, and I have worked with people with disabilities in a variety of settings for many years.
I worked for a short while in a secondary school as music teacher, which was an experience I learned a lot from in terms of how to motivate teenagers to get to grips with what music really is. I know how to plan lessons to achieve goals for my students, and how to pace the students in their advancement along the music path

Tutoring Approach:

As ever, the approach has to be based around the abilities of the individual learning the instrument and how much time they are willing to devote to it. I can teach from a variety of approaches to match the student and what they actually want to learn. For many people, an academic approach is not what they want, so lets cut the crap and get down to some serious enjoyment!
