Personal Description:
I am an experienced and engaging guitar teacher with 30 years’ live experience playing rock, blues and folk in venues all over the country. My teaching space is our family summer house at the bottom of our garden - say hallo to our rabbits and guinea pigs as you walk past.
I pride myself on being very patient, positive and encouraging - to be honest, if I didn’t have bills to pay, I’d happily teach guitar voluntarily as it gives me such a sense of accomplishment when you see students suddenly start to ‘get it’ :o)
Tutoring Experience:
I have been teaching a wide variety of happy children and adults for the past four years. I have also led a school rock band for two years, which was a lot of fun :o)
Tutoring Approach:
I teach acoustic guitar, electric guitar, ukulele, bass, slide guitar and mandolin for beginners/intermediate. I teach rock, pop and folk, music theory and how to read music.
I teach strumming, lead guitar, how to read music and tabulature.
I don’t teach classical guitar but am happy to work towards rock and pop grades if the student wishes.
I tend to structure terms according to themes - among the terms we’ve had recently are ‘American rock’, ‘British rock’ and ‘modern pop’. I’m also happy to work on individual pieces if the student wishes.
