Personal Description:

Oliver is an experienced and versatile musician who is keen to pass on his love and passion for music. He graduated from Leeds College of Music in 2017 with a 2:1 degree in Popular Music, focusing on electric guitar and songwriting, and he is very active as a gigging musician around Leeds and further afield. In addition to my BA in Popular Music he has a diploma in electric guitar teaching (DipLCM), Grade 8s in electric guitar, bass, drum kit and popular music theory. Oliver plays in several diverse groups (ranging from heavy rock to acoustic duet) and feels that as a working musician he brings valued practical tips to his teaching, showing pupils how to apply technique to real music-making. He is a relaxed and friendly chap, with a great sense of humor, so lessons are guaranteed to be fun!

Tutoring Experience:

I've been privately teaching pupils from 2015 teaching a diverse range of age and ability covering many different types of genres. As well at this, I work regulary in a music center Saturday school having shadowed experienced teachers and helping out with a number of different classes, including school of rock and beginner classical guitar and teaching a class on composition.

Rock School UK summer course teacher. I ran a whole week teaching 8 children how to play 2 covers, write 2 songs and record/perform these at the end of the week. This included Guitar, Drums, Bass and Vocals.

I also teach as a peripatetic music teacher in two schools around Leeds and Bradford.

Tutoring Approach:

The most important aspect is to get straight into learning practical music. Students are shown what to practice between each lesson. Correct technique learnt from the start is crucial for future success but, importantly, the lessons are always kept fun and interactive. I believe in mixing technique with applying this to learning music. Lessons are tailored to your needs and desires in learning the guitar. Oliver teaches guitar for all ages and abilities.

Lessons are available on:

All genres of pop are catered for, with a specialism in rock/metal and pop/indie.
