Information About Miles - Bath teacher

Personal Description:

I was born in 1982 and first inspired by the music of great artists like Dier Straits, Jimi Hendrix and Guns n Roses, before I was even a teenager. This set me on a path to pursue my passion for the guitar, songwriting and performance, which I began to take seriously in my early twenties. I was a gardener by day and taught myself guitar and singing technique during any available spare time. In 2007 I moved to Coventry for a year to complete a broad and very helpful foundation course in theory, technique and performance. I then returned to Bath to continue developing my musical and creative talents. In 2014 I returned to music college, this time at BIMM Bristol, where I completed a Level 4 Diploma in Professional Musicianship. I am married and have two young sons. We moved to Midsomer Norton in 2017.

Tutoring Experience:

I am an experienced guitarist, singer, performer and recording artist, who has a Level 4 Diploma in Professional Musicianship from BIMM Bristol and a foundation certificate from Nexus Music Academy in Coventry. I have taught numerous adults and children and played and sang live regularly, both when I was studying at the colleges I attended, as well as at local venues when I lived in Bath.

Tutoring Approach:

My lessons are always calm, constructive and encouraging. Whatever my students level of ability, I am always rigorous about making sure they develop the best technique and understanding, so that nothing will slow their progress towards becoming an expressive musician. I structure lessons around my students taste in music and goals as much as possible but I make sure that they understand the importance of correct technique and good timing before I look at any other goals with them.
