Personal Description:

Royal Holloway graduate, receiving a BMus (Hons). Saxophonist, bassoonist and flautist for 10+ years. I have grade 8 distinction in all three, additionally I have an ATCL in saxophone, a Trinity Advanced Performance Certificate in flute, and I did my final recital at university on bassoon.

I played in Hertfordshire County music groups, including Hertfordshire Wind Sinfonia, Schools Symphony Orchestra, and Youth Orchestra. At university I played in several orchestras and groups, and was principal bassoon in the symphony orchestra for two years. I am currently the 2nd bassoonist at Hertford Symphony Orchestra.

Tutoring Experience:

I am a teacher with a over five years experience with 1-on-1 instrumental lessons.

Tutoring Approach:

Would work with the student to achieve their goals, whether being exams or just reaching a standard of playing without examination. Comfortable with jazz (for saxophone) but primarily classical for flute and bassoon.

I frequently compose my own short pieces and exercises which are tailored to challenge specific aspects of instrumental playing to aid the student.

I have returned to offering in person, 1-on-1, instrumental lessons. However, for everyone's safety, in person lessons are only offered to vaccinated students.

I also offer teaching over Zoom, without video however due to insufficient bandwidth.
