Personal Description:

I am a conservatoire trained, classical guitar specialist and teach it to professional level. Electric, bass, acoustic guitars and music theory to Grade 8 or equivalent standard, in a wide variety of styles.

I have always enjoyed teaching and I hope to continue doing it full-time in a variety of forms, including leading ensembles. I was lucky to be in many groups in my youth and I think it’s a valuable skill that’s often overlooked in the guitar world.

I play in a guitar quartet that we take very seriously, I hope that we will be able to increase our popularity further and get the opportunity to play more concerts. The quartet is also a great outlet for many of my arrangements, some of which I am hoping to get published in 2020, including my own teaching resources.

Tutoring Experience:

7 years as private guitar tutor, mostly around London,
2 1/2 years at Berkshire Maestros music service, teaching a wide variety of formats including in schools, groups and leading ensembles.
7 months at Earley Music Centre, Berkshire. left to relocate to Wales

Tutoring Approach:

I am experienced in teaching all ages and I’m familiar with the common exam boards and their procedures. I maintain a 100% pass rate for students entered into exams, however I do not force students to enter, having fun is the most important part of music!

Being an active performer, I really value the importance of collaborations with other musicians and instruments. I believe playing with others is often overlooked in guitar teaching, despite it being a vital part of musical education and I try to incorporate this skill into my teaching.
