Personal Description:

Hi!
My name is Matt and I am a dedicated and passionate music teacher who offers lessons in and around the Glasgow area.

I teach all ages and abilities. I strive to deliver lessons that are always catered to the individual student and aim to make learning both music and the instrument a fun and rewarding experience.

Why choose Matt?

- First lesson FREE!
- All ages and abilities welcome.
- Flexible lesson times to fit in around your personal life.
- Offers Initial - Grade 8 in Trinity Guildhall & ABRSM exams.
- Can travel to student's house for lessons (if not too far away), or you can have lessons at my house.
- Can teach online
- Extensive experience in teaching ASN kids
- I have an enhanced DBS and PVG certificates.

I'm highly in demand as a performer of classical music. I'm a graduate of London's Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and I'm currently the Co-Leader of the London City Philharmonic Orchestra.

I also have extensive experience as a folk and traditional musician and have led group workshops at the Cecil Sharp House in London and the Scots Fiddle Festival in Edinburgh. I have played at many of the UK's premier festivals and venues including Celtic Connections, Broadstairs Folk Week, Cambridge Folk Festival and the Green Note in London to name a few.

Tutoring Experience:

I've been teaching private students on a one to one basis for over a decade. I've also taught individuals at the Hackney Youth Orchestra Trust.

I've taught group classes as part of the Hackney Youth Orchestra Trust and Gael Music (South Lanarkshire). I've also delivered group workshops at the Cambridge Folk Festival, Broadstairs Folk Week and Scots Fiddle Festival.

I'm also currently playing for Live Music Now Scotland and have been working with ASN schools in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Perth and Aberdeen.

Tutoring Approach:

My main aim for lessons is for people to enjoy themselves, regardless of age or ability! If we're not enjoying music making it becomes very difficult to make any progress, (and what's the point if its a chore?). I tailor the lesson to the student's individual needs and personality whilst creating an inspiring and positive atmosphere. I let the student decide on which path they wish to take, be it exams, auditions, performances, or just for fun!
