Personal Description:
I am a professional freelance guitarist, composer and
educator currently based in South East London, who specialises in Jazz, Folk and Rock guitar
styles.
Having finished an undergraduate degree at the prestigious Guildhall School
of Music where I studied Jazz and Classical guitar, I was recently awarded an extra
mural year at the school for musical excellence, where I was made an artist in
residence (Fellow), and was chosen to continue studying with some of the school’s
most in demand professors, whilst being mentored as part of a professional
development programme.
Recent personal career highlights include:
- Performing at the 2019 FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium;
- Being selected to record several of my own compositions at the legendary
BBC Maida Vale Studios (2018);
- Performing at the 2019 Copenhagen Jazz Festival;
- Performing for a luxury private event at the world famous Villa D’Este in
Lake Como, Italy.
- Musical artist in residence at the prestigious Beaumont Hotel (Mayfair);
- Recording session work for renowned media company Mcasso which involved
recording guitar parts for a series of adverts for BBC 1;
- Performing a grant funded concert of music by the legendary British
composer Steve Martland in the group ‘Masque Collective’ at the Guildhall
School of Music, (in association with the Barbican Centre).
- Performing at the legendary Wigmore Hall as part of their ‘Voiceworks’
concert, premiering new experimental compositions;
My high level of musical education and performance experience has provided me
with a vast knowledge of the guitar, music theory and composition, all of which are
evident in my ability as a music educator.
Tutoring Experience:
I have over seven years of experience teaching experience. Teaching private 1 to 1 lessons, as well as teaching group/ensemble lessons, as well as giving guitar workshops/masterclasses.
When in London I teach at several prestigious independent schools, that have specialist music departments.
Subjects I teach includes guitar, mandolin, improvisation, theory/harmony, general musicianship, ear training and arranging/composition.
Tutoring Approach:
I have an enthusiastic and relaxed teaching style, for students of all ages and abilities.
Each lesson is tailored to the students individual and specific needs, which an approach that best suits their style of learning.
My high level of musical education and performance experience has provided me
with a vast knowledge of the guitar, music theory and composition, all of which are
evident in my ability as a music educator.
