Personal Description:

Hi, I’m Martin, a Clarinet and Saxophone Tutor for Music Spark.

During a 31-year career as a professional musician with the British Army I’ve been very lucky to have travelled extensively worldwide and have met many musicians of all ages from many different backgrounds and cultures. I enjoyed music from a very early age having come from a musical family and always wanted to have a musical career.

Tutoring Experience:

Part of my role as Principal Clarinet of 3 bands over a 20-year period was to teach, mentor and assist fellow colleagues and lead workshops when visiting music hubs, schools, colleges and universities. It’s always been my goal to help musicians reach their potential, while at the same time having enormous fun and having the opportunity to pass on my passion and enthusiasm for practicing, preparing for exams and performing to audiences.

Tutoring Approach:

By listening to the students’ aspirations, setting goals and enjoying the journey together, my aim is to make lessons challenging yet enjoyable and a rewarding experience, whether you are starting out on your musical journey or an advanced performer looking for a fresh outlook and further challenges. I specialise in both online and face to face lessons in my teaching studio.
