Personal Description:
I run a busy teaching practice from my home in Rhos on Sea and specialise in teaching piano and keyboard. I teach piano from beginner to diploma level and have an excellent track record of exam successes with pupils performing in finals of National competitions and continuing study at music colleges and specialist music schools. I also specialise in courses for adult learners and offer music theory to Grade 8 including fast track courses for those urgently needing to gain an ABRSM Grade 5 qualification. Additional to this, I offer courses in harmony and jazz piano improvisation and provide support for pupils sitting GCSE and A level Music. **Removed By Admin**
Tutoring Experience:
Having graduated from The Guildhall School of Music and qualified as a teacher, I taught as Head of Music in local state and private secondary schools for nearly twenty years. As such I gained a wide experience of dealing with pupils of different abilities and interests. In 2004, I left school teaching to set up as a freelance musician and teacher and have since built a thriving and successful teaching practise with an excellent local reputation.
Tutoring Approach:
I enjoy the variety my teaching offers. Students range in age from 6 to 84, from diploma level to leisure learners and from aspiring professionals to keen amateurs. I use software packages such as Sibelius to arrange pieces and produce backing tracks specifically reflecting pupils individual interests and abilities.Pupils are encouraged to make digital recordings of their best performances and these build into a valuable record of achievement. I keep up to date with the latest developments in teaching methodolgy through membership of organisations such as the European Piano Teachers' Association and am a long time member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians (through whom I an regularly vetted for Enhanced CRB disclosure) I am also listed on the ISM 's register of Professional Private Music Teachers .
